Catch Dave Paris and Zoe Klein at Hard Rock Cafe, 3rd
August. Their SIX performances will be a showcase of mystical circus
adagio, haunting hustle dancing, playful Rumba, smooth NY Style
salsa and fierce Acro Salsa, Doors open at 7PM Show starts at 10:30
PM sharp, $25 for 1 drink.
"Paradizo Dance is Dave Paris & Zoe Klein. It is their desire to
create work from many movement backgrounds, to seamlessly merge
acrobatics with dance so that acrobatics are expressive and not just
impressive circus tricks.
They are an acro-balancing duet who uniquely integrate partner
acrobatics with aerial lifts with Salsa, Afro-Cuban folkloric dance
and performance art.
You are about to see a blend of show-stopping stunts and acrobatic
theatrical artistry. This full evening show consists of six pieces
within two acts. Act I combines circus acrobatics with adagio and
modern dance.
In Act II, they will showcase the vibrant salsa dance culture that
has an immense international following."
1. The first piece is 'Eireann.' 'Eireann' is a devotional and
mystical piece that uses acrobatics from ballet, circus and ice-
skating moves."
2. "Our second show is titled 'Sleepers.' This piece is
chroeographed to the poetry of Walt Whitman with original
instrumental composition. 'Sleepers' is lyrical in its movement and
explores poetic themes about the extraordinary within the ordinary.
3. "Their third show before intermission is titled 'Runaway.' This
was originally a trio, and is now performed as a duet. The piece is
inspired by their acrobatic teaching with inner-city children. This
is their most theatrical piece evoking a young boy's nightmarish
torment, haunted by the violence around him. The work also combines
Latin Hustle and Afro-Cuban Folkloric Dance."
Intermission
"We now shift to the Salsa part of our show:
4. "Acid Jazz" is a playful piece based on the traditional Cuban
Rumba. Rumba is a street dance, a courting ritual between a man and
a woman. You will see Dave & Zoe use this idea as a basis for an
acrobatic play-fest!"
5. "For the next performance, Dave Paris will be working with
someone from the audience to demonstrate NY Style dancing On-2."
6. "We will end our program with one final fierce acrobatic salsa
performance. 'Ven Ven' demonstrates the way Dave & Zoe interpret
salsa music with an acrobatic style. The theme of the song is about
a warning to the enemies. To show this, they use Afro-Cuban
movement and strong acrobatic movements to express warrior power."
